more detail

Heres a little update on EXACTLY how me and my group members take care of our fish from store to classroom.

Take the fish home in the bag, don't forget to ask from stress coat from Petco, the fish are able to die from stress. At Pet Kingdom and PetSmart, they provide it for you most of the time.

The fish can't last in the bag long, but make sure you have the tank running for at least 24 hours and everthing including the contidionting chemicals have already been put in the tank.

open the tank lid, and put the bag in the water. It should float. Leave fora bout 10-20 minutes, fish CAN die from temperature shock. It's important for the fish to adjust to the new tank and the tank temperature.

After 20 minutes has passed, use the next to transfew the fish. Make sure you keep them out of the water for no more than 3 seconds, they could die. Also make sure they don't flop out of the net, so transfer them over the tank. If they flop, make sure you get them in to the tank as soon as possible.

Fish aren't usually hungry after coming home, and they also need time to adjust to the new food. put a few flakes after about an hour in the tank, but don't expect them to eat it. If they do, that means they might be hungry and give them only 1 or 2 flakes.

By the end of the day, or at night, give them 4-5 flakes. small, if big only 1 or 2.
Do NOT keep the light on throughout the day, especially if it's not winter. If it's winter, keep it on. The light transfers heat to the tank, and if the water is warm (over 73 degrees) it can cause heart problems. keep the light on before you last see them, and make sure you turn it off when you first see them. Overnight, it can get too cold in the tank.

Yesterday & Today

Sorry about Non daily posts, and combined posts. I usually blog late at night, and sometimes the internet fails.

Today, May 15th, I did a little more research on our goldfish, and more preperation for exibition. Twomorrow, I plan to start one of our five things that come in addition to our interperative panel.

Yesterday, I spent the day preparing, printing, typing various things for our interperative panel. That night, I finished it, and it is ready for lamination.

Exibition Night is NEXT THURSDAY. So far, we are pressed for a deadline as we still have to paint out backdrop for our tank, because we decided that it was a little bit foolish and not needed for us to make a castle and actually put it in the water. Mr.Davis as well As Mr.Strong helped us find another option for a Mideveal Exhibit, and that was to make a background.

As far as our interperative panels, the younger one got biology of the organism, and the other information about your assigned civilization. I got our civilization, Charlemagne. A picture of it will be posted once it is laminated, and finished entirely.

We still have much to do, so I suppose it would be helpful to list them.

a) color/paint backdrop
b) one of the 5 additions to our interperative panel
c) buy plastic plants for the aquarium
d) final touches before exhibition
That's all I can say for tonight and these past two days. Thanks, and goodbye :)

Pictures & Information

Here are some pictures of the Fantail Goldfish.

A small baby fantail goldfish (that's what my fish look like currently)

Another picture. A really pretty fish this one is :)

This one is really really big! The fantail goldfish grow to about 6 inches. The average lifespan of a healthy goldfish is 6 years. This is a Fancy Goldfish, but they are full grown fantail goldfish. There is a less risk of Fancy Goldfish dying after being bought from a pet store, because they are almost full grown.

Monday thru Thursday

Today, and Yesterday, we were doing lessons.
Deffiently something you will hear about on our other blogs-
As I am updating this now, on Thursday, we still have not done our lessons.
But, I am happy to update and say that we have completed our quest for fantail goldfish!
You can telll them apart. Well, I can.
Anna- Has a long tail, and is the biggest fish.
Wittle Guy - The smallest and smartest fish, has no white and a reasonably small tail.
Small Fry- Has a white mouth that is always in an O shape.
Tuff Guy - The only normal fish- that's how I know him! He always is eating the rocks.
Wednesday, we went to the Zoo. Man, was that FUN! It was really hot though. We did alot of cool things, and learned about diffrent animals.

Yesterday :)

Sorry about not posting yesterday. Busy!!!!
We got a new tank, and a new filter thanks to mr davis.
That night, i went to petco and got dechlorination chemicals and 1 fish named wittle guy. ^-^
He was like.. crazy! he's at home in a beta bowl about 1/2 gallon and eating fish food, but confused and has a problem with staying underwater. Haha I was just holding summer's mouse, lola. (: But, yeah. I have a feeling the fish are going to live, but today we are going to set up the filter and add chemicals and prep for the fish. :)
